The other day we were watching a mountain biking video (like this one) and the whole time we ALL kept lifting our chins up in the air--I don't know--like to help the guy see better?

Kind-of the same thing was happening while we were listening to some funny poetry on CD in the car.  Except this time we all kept clearing our throats.  The narrator seriously needed to cough or something.  Between our own "a-hems" we were all grimacing.  The poems--great, but the vocal quality--yikes.

Voices matter.

Sometimes they fit and sometimes they just don't.

Some of our very favorites have been :

1.  Jim Dale reading both Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Peter and the Starcatchers. (Although, when we first started the Starcatcher series we kept forgetting that Hagrid wasn't going to appear.)

2.  Del Roy reading the The Mysterious Benedict Society.  We just started the second one and his voice brings us right back.

3.  And Keith Nobbs reading Frindle, No Talking, and Lost and Found.

Who are some of your favorite narrators?
