Day 22: Life as Art (A Literal Lesson)

It's been a while since we've read these books.  But these simple board books carry a big message.  When life gets messy, make art.  See every mistake as an opportunity to use your unique creativity, imagination, and passion to create an unexpected masterpiece.  Make it a habit.

At it's most basic level that looks like me telling one of these small people that those extra lines coming off the lion's legs don't mean that the picture is ruined.  See it differently.  It's grass.  Orange grass.  Make more of it.  (Then, it's watching them, over and over again, turn their unintended marks into something new without any help at all.)

At a deeper level it might look like blowing it and using it as a way to connect.

It's a practice of extending grace to yourself, to others.  And like practice, it's not always so easy or fun.  But it is so good.
